Advice For The Graduate

Advice For The Graduate

Graduation season is upon us. Whether you or someone you know is graduating from high school or college, graduation itself is a huge deal. It is a time to celebrate all of the hard work that you put into school and went into achieving your diploma. It is a time to reflect back and truly look at how far you have come since you started. At the beginning of every journey, the destination seems so far away, but once you are there, the journey appears to have flown by. The best example of this is any form of educational. As you enter school, graduation seems like miles away; yet as you walk across that stage, it appears that it all flashed before your eyes. This realization can be daunting because following graduation comes the entrance into the “real” world. Now is the time to really focus on your life choices and career.

In this week’s blog we are going to discuss some advice that I have heard from a speech given by Arnold Schwarzenegger that really resonated with me. This speech gave some enlightening information that has stuck with me over the years and I believe it is beneficial for all new graduates, no matter the age, to hear and apply to their life.

#1. Find Your Vision

Ask yourself what it is that you want to achieve. Coming to this realization can aid in developing the proper steps to achieve your goals. Once you have your vision, you can begin to break it down into more manageable and actionable steps. Doing this will not only make you more successful in achieving your goals, but it will also allow you to move forward without becoming overwhelmed with the big picture.

#2. Think Big

You should never limit your dreams. Aim high. Allow your mind to think as large as possible. You will truly surprise yourself with what you can achieve once you put your mind and actions toward something. Start by sitting down with a pen and paper, then ask yourself what it is you want to achieve. That is the easy part believe it or not, the hard part is ignoring the thoughts in your head that may try and talk you out of whatever it is you want to achieve.

#3. Ignore The Naysayers

This one is extremely important to grasp early on, even just in life in general. People are always going to have something to say. Some will try and bring you down, while others will lift you up. Of course certain opinions of others may hold value in your life, but the difference occurs when you let those other opinions get to you. You can not allow other people’s words to impact you more than your own do. You never want to give someone the power to bring you down when all that you have done is work hard to lift yourself up. Let other people’s opinions roll off your shoulders and take the advice from those who count.

#4. Work Your Butt Off

Everyone knows that saying, “hard work pays off.” Working hard in everything you do and always giving every task your best is the best way to experience success in life. Even if a task is not done perfectly, as long as you did your best then that is all you can ask for. However, it is also important to mention that with hard work, should also come rest. Life is all about balance and working hard all the time can lead to fatigue and burn out. So be sure to give yourself some days of rest. Incorporate self care activities in between your tasks or busy days. This will allow you to come back to your work and feel even better than before, which will result in more high quality work results.

#5. Give Back

Giving back to others is a great way to spread love and positivity. While it is great to experience success for yourself, it is also an amazing feeling to give back to others. Whether you give back to those who supported you along your journey, start a non-profit, or donate to charities, I can promise you that the feeling associated with giving is rewarding.

In conclusion, this advice is universal. It is not just beneficial for new graduates to understand, but also everyone else. Take this advice with you into your day to day life and discover new ways to implement it into your success.

Congratulations once again to any new graduates this year. You made it! All of your hard work paid off and you should be very proud of yourself. The team at Atlantic Wellness and Spine Center wishes you continued success as you enter this next chapter of your lives!
